Preventing email arriving into SecurityGateway after 1st January 2010 matching the the FH_DATE_PAST_20XX SpamAssassin rule

HOWTO: Preventing email arriving into SecurityGateway after 1st January 2010 matching the the FH_DATE_PAST_20XX SpamAssassin rule

This issue relates to a problem with a SpamAssassin rule which is incorrectly marking email arriving since 1st January 2010 as too far into the future.

The SpamAssassin developers have already addressed this problem but it may be necessary to force SecurityGateway to pickup on this change by choosing Security -> Heuristics and Bayesian -> Click here to configure SGSpamD -> Click here to check for heuristic rule updates now. Once the update has been performed, so SecurityGateway picks up on the modification you will need to restart the SecurityGateway service.

To restart SecurityGateway...

1. Choose Start -> Programs -> SecurityGateway -> Stop SecurityGateway

2. Choose Start -> Programs -> SecurityGateway -> Start SecurityGateway

If you'd prefer SecurityGateway to ignore this rule completely add “score FH_DATE_PAST_20XX 0” (without the quotes) to your \Program Files\SecurityGateway\SpamAssassin\Rules\local.cf” file (this entry just needs adding on the next empty line) and then restart SecurityGateway for the change to apply.
